Every Thursday beginning July 25, a new video episode and a podcast episode will be released.
Ken will show you how some of his new music was conceived and share with you early demo versions of the songs. Over the course of the series, Navarro will take you from the birth of a new composition all the way to it's final finished form. The premier episode looks at how Ken created the first version of the chorus hook for a new song temporarily titled “KN16”.

In August, I had the honor and pleasure of peRforming two Living Room ConcerTS! The first was in my home state of Maryland for CLAY & LINDA MYERS, a beautiful couple Celebrating their 46th Wedding AnniversarY. It was truly a joy to share my music for Clay and Linda and their family.
The seCond living room Concert WAS in Seattle, Washington for Chrissy & Eric Yamada. This was their 10th living room concert. They have had PEter White, PAul Taylor and many other artists perform in their living room. This was my 4th conceRt for them! This year I was joined by my friend and sax great Jeff Kashiwa. Yesterday I finished the final masteR of my upcoming Album. it is now at the manufacturer - YAY! It was two years in the making and so worth the effort to produce this final result. The graphic design is all finished as well for the expanded CD packaging. Release date is September 21, 2018. Stay tuned for more updates.

Last week I completed the recording of the final guitar parts for the new album. Also, John Patitucci recorded his acoustic bass parts and so now all of the recording is complete - the 40+ Piece Symphony Orchestra, Dave Weckl and Chad Wackerman’s drums, Eric Marienthal’s saxophones, Lori Andrews' harp and now after 10 days of recording all of my guitar parts, the recording work is completed. NOW I BEGIN the mixing. Here are the 13 picks I used these last 10 days...

Last week, I workED with saxophone great Eric Marienthal and harpist extraordinaire Lori Andrews as they recordED their parts for my upcoming album for guitar and symphony orchestra.
Saxophone great Eric Marienthal - so happy to have him on this special album. We have known each other a long time and I have always loved his playing, particularly on my music.
I first met and performed with Lori way back in 1987 when l was a working musician in Los Angeles. I do not get the opportunity to play with a true jazz harpist very often and Lori is one of the very best. She sounds just wonderful on the new album!

I'M Working today with iconic drummer Dave Weckl as he records the drums for "The Grace of Summer Light" with my guitar and orchestra. Dave gives such attention to the detail of the composition and the way he interacts with everything else that is happening within the orchestra is amazing and so appreciated by a composer LIke me. I can't wait to Have his input and incomparable playing on one of the centerpieces of this new album.

I’m working this week with the great drummer Chad Wackerman, adding his powerful drumming to “The Stars, The Snow, The Fire” with the orchestra and my guitar. Chad's attention to detail and the finesse with which he handles the complex rHythms of this song are very expressive and AT the same time so in the groove. I feel fortunate to have one of my favorite drummers in the world on this album with me.

on march 27, 28 & 29 we recorded the full orchestra for my upcoming album at Omega studios. this orchestra of highly skilled, hand picked musicians played magnificently and gave me performances above and beyond what I expected (and my expectations were Quite high). Another super busy week getting ready for the orchestra recording sessions March 27-29 for my next album. This week, after a thorough review, the final string parts went to the principals in each string section for their bowing notations. Still finalizing the horn, brass and woodwind parts but they are virtually completed. Also custom click tracks, headphone tracks for the recording sessions and practice headphone mixes with click for each song are being created for each musician to practice with when they receive their parts at the end of February. Had a great meeting with the engineer & recording studio and we are finalizing the set up and orchestra layout for the recording sessions. I also re-wrote the string intro to Fortunate Son this week as well as adding some new woodwind parts for Wichita Lineman - so a lot of different things happening ...!

It was a thrill to hear some of my new music for the upcoming aLbum played by the pso. Under the direction of conductor GlenN Quader and AssistanT conductor Kate Garretson, I had the opportunity to hear songs of mine "The Stars, the snow, the fire", "Juliet" and many others played by the talented musicians in the PSO. This is of great help as I continue to tweak and improve my orchestrations. Here's a few pictures from this special evening...

I am very happy to announce thaT A new album of MY music for guitar and orchestra will begin recording in March 2018. I expect the release date to be sometime in the late summer or early fall.
i can now confirm that not one but two world renowned drummers - Dave Weckl and Chad Wackerman - will both be making special appearances with me and the orchestra. I can also confirm that the virtuoso bassist John patitucci will also be performing on the album. And if that wasn't enough, my favorite saxophonist in the world - eric marienthal - will be playing on 2 songs. Finally a brilliant jazz harpist, Lori Andrews will be adding her beautiful touch on 6 of the songs. A video crew will be making a documentary film of the recording and there will be many other surprises and special features which will made available as well. So please stay tuned...!
Here is a working score for one of the songs which will be on the new album - it's "Fortunate Son" for my guitar and string orchestra.
